Spirit Days

Thursday February 9th is the start of Numeracy Week!  Here are some ways we are celebrating as a school for Spirit Days:  -Thursday Feb 9: Wear a number day  -Friday Feb 10: Multiples Day (ideas: wear multiple of something, dress in the same colour, wear a repeating pattern or match with someone in the school or class) 

Valentine's Day

  If you are participating in Valentine's Day, you do not need to bring Valentines for both classes and can bring in for just your homeroom class. However, we do ask that if you bring in a Valentine for someone in the other homeroom class that you bring one for the whole class so that no one is left out. Feb 1

 Today we:  played human curling in gym  read stories about conflict and conflict resolution and drew a picture from the story to help us remember (if we are done colouring, the picture is in our backpacks for us to talk to our parents with)  did a math talk using ten blocks and one blocks and wrote the number on the white board  played "make 10" with our power of 10 cards and tried matching two cards that would equal 10  played "heart word hustle" in language arts  in our centers we had free drawing, writing about what we can do at home to help our families and played a snakes and ladders game to practice reading heart words  started our February calendar and found out we have been in school for 91 days! We have now practiced counting up to 91 at school, ask me to practice at home!  We unfortunately did not make it outside for our winter walk today due to the cold. We are going to go out for our winter walk tomorrow instead!  Reminder: no school on Friday

 Today we:  talked about our favourite lively letters for question of the day  found out that we have been at school for 90 days and that tomorrow is the first day of February  learned that Mrs. Read's baby is a girl!  talked about how we can help out family community at home and wrote about something we can do at home to help  played a game like basketball but with the scooters!  played exploding ones in math and did a math talk about representing numbers with base 10 blocks  wrote about things that are different colours  played heart word war  drew a dancing woman based off a famous art piece and talked about how in February we celebrate black history month  played snakes and ladders to practice reading r controlled vowels  Important notes for tomorrow:  Tomorrow we are going to do a winter walk, please make sure you are wearing boots for the deep snow and dressed warmly Library tomorrow!
