Grade 1 with Mrs. Read

 Today we shared what we are dressing up as for halloween for our question of the day. We reviewed our lively letters and then played a game to see if we could identify all the sounds in a word (You can try this at home too! i.e with the word hog, ask you child what sounds they hear-- /h/ /o/ /g/) then we drew a halloween theme picture! Today was 'drop everything and read' so we stopped to read 3 times! In music we played a couple of songs and followed rhythm and beat. In gym we played a trick or treat game! In math we did our number of the day which was 9, practiced counting using tally marks and then played a tally mark game. We finished the day with out book competition to see which is our favourite book!  Reminder no school tomorrow for PD day. 

Today we talked about our favourite movies for question of the day, shared our answers during morning circle and did calendar. We finished our last lively letter which was q (but q always has a friend so we read it with u as 'qu'!) We drew a queen for our picture. In makerspace we made things that made us think of halloween. In gym we practiced throwing and played a game. In math we did number of the day (which was 2), read a story called "Tally O'Malley" and then practiced counting objects with tally marks. For literacy day we had time that the whole school read and then we read two more books and voted on which one we like best to find our class favourite!  Reminder: no school on Friday
